Broken laser pointer.
First item listed and sold for $14.83.
In 1995, eBay founder Pierre Omidyar listed his broken laser pointer to test his new online auction site and a bidding war ensued. Listed for $1, it sold to eBay's first buyer, Mark Fraser, for $14.83. Fraser fixed the laser pointer and went on to give the flashiest and most profesh presentations this side of the Mississippi.

Elvis Presley’s Baby Grand Piano.
Sold on eBay for $370,000.
A young Elvis saw Duke Ellington and Count Basie play on this Knabe piano in Memphis. The King of Rock and Roll bought the already famous instrument for himself in 1957, refinishing it in white with gold accents for his Music Room at Graceland. In 2017, this grandest of grand pianos was sold during a charity auction honoring the 40th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death. Proceeds benefited the Starkey Hearing Foundation.
